Ball studs are widely used in independent suspension systems. Control arms or thrust rods are often connected to other components through ball studs at the end. The main function of the ball stud is to realize the up and down movement of the wheel and the steering movement. The ball stud is an important security component for the completion of the driving and steering functions of the car.
The use conditions of the ball stud parts determine that the ball stud must have sufficient strength and durability to withstand the force and vibration transmitted from the wheel, which means that the heat treatment control of the part is the key factor to ensure the strength and durability.
The process flow of ball studs is, blanking → saponification → cold heading forming → hardening and tempering → drilling → rough turning → rough grinding → fine turning → fine grinding → thread rolling → induction heating and hardening and tempering → testing → packaging → storage.
ROCHO INDUCTION provide ball studs induction hardening system, for the different positions of the ball studs models, the hardening depth and process are also different. For example, the effective hardening for truck ball studs is generally 2-3mm, and the hardening position required to be harden as a whole. For the surface treatment of the car ball studs, only hardening the ball head can satisfy its wear resistance and tensile strength.
