Seamless steel tubes are round, square and rectangular steel with hollow section and no welded seam. The tubes are manufactured through an extrusion process where the tube is drawn from a steel ingots or solid tube billet and extruded into a hollow form. Tubing is further shaped hot rolling process, cold rolling process or cold drawing process.

Seamless steel tubes have a hollow section and are mostly used as pipelines for conveying fluids. Compared with solid steel such as round steel, seamless steel tubes have the same bending and torsion strength and lighter weight. They are widely used in petroleum, chemical, boiler, power station, shipbuilding, machinery manufacturing, automobile, aerospace, energy, geology, construction and military industries, such as:Engineering Machinery: pipeline transportation, underground water extraction, boiler hot water transportation.

● Mechanical processing: bearing sleeves, processing machinery accessories, etc.
● Electrical: gas transmission, water power generation fluid pipeline.
● Anti-static tubes for wind power plants, etc.
● Steel scaffolding for oil drills, etc.

Seamless steel tubes are divided into hot-rolled seamless steel tubes and cold rolled seamless steel tubes due to their different manufacturing processes. Cold rolled tubes are divided into round tubes and special-shaped tubes.

1.Different uses
Hot-rolled seamless tubes are divided into general steel tubes, low and medium pressure boiler steel tubes, high pressure boiler steel tubes, alloy steel tubes, stainless steel tubes, petroleum cracking tubes, geological steel tubes and other steel tubes.

Cold-rolled seamless steel tubes are divided into general steel tubes, low and medium pressure boiler steel tubes, high pressure boiler steel tubes, alloy steel tubes, stainless steel tubes, petroleum cracking tubes, and other steel tubes, as well as carbon thin-walled steel tubes, alloy thin-walled steel tubes, Stainless thin-walled steel tubes, special-shaped steel tubes.

2.Different sizes
The outer diameter of hot-rolled seamless tube is generally greater than 32mm and the wall thickness is 2.5-75mm.
The diameter of cold-rolled seamless tube can be up to 6mm and the wall thickness can be up to 0.25mm.
The outer diameter of thin-walled tube can be up to 5mm and the wall thickness is less than 0.25mm.

3.Difference process of seamless steel tubes
Hot-rolled seamless steel tube process:
Tube billet → heating → perforation → continuous rolling or extrusion → tube stripping → inner diameter or outer diameter lathe → heat treatment → cooling → straightening → hydraulic test → inspection → lasing marking→ storage

Cold-rolled seamless steel tube process:
Tube billet → heating → perforation → Heading forming → annealing →pickling →cold rolling (drawing) → heat treatment → straightening → hydraulic test → inspection → lasing marking→ storage

Hot rolling process can improve the processing properties of metals and alloys, the cast structure of the ingot can be destroyed, the grain of the steel can be refined, and the defects of the microstructure can be eliminated, so that the steel structure is compacted and the mechanical properties are improved. Hot rolling process can significantly reduce energy consumption. During hot rolling, the metal has high plasticity and low deformation resistance, which greatly reduces the energy consumption of metal deformation.
